Dyslexia Screening

To receive a formal diagnosis of dyslexia, a person must undergo assessment by a psychologist. Dyslexia assessments at Erin’s Language Tutoring are informal and will indicate if a person will benefit from Orton-Gillingham tutoring. It is important to note that this type of tutoring benefits many people, including those with language impairments other than dyslexia. My assessments will screen for the following:

  • Phonological awareness

  • Decoding

  • Reading Fluency and comprehension

  • Rapid naming

One-to-one Virtual tutoring

Tutoring sessions are individually designed to meet the needs of the specific learner. Sessions include a range of activities that target different learning styles, and are 50 minutes in length. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, instruction is paced to work with the student’s growing skill set. Sessions are available Monday to Friday.

Sessions are done virtually over Zoom and use a wide-range of technologies, activities, and games to keep students highly engaged. Even the most adverse virtual learners have been very successful in my online sessions due to the fun and highly engaging content.
